Here is the first official, biweekly segment of Windows to the Inside. I have lots of art to share. These drawings are part of my daily creative practice. I am currently studying visual composition through two frameworks (and two separate notebooks).
In one, I play with color combinations by pursuing balance through boldness. In the other, through my abstract flower drawings, I create shapes, angles, and textures with no color and numerous gradations of gray. The color framework feels limitless while the pencil drawings have strict rules. I am having fun experimenting with these approaches.
In both cases, my strategy is no different from the way a child might create a drawing. I let my instincts guide me, and I do not overthink what I am doing. Mostly, it must feel delightful and fun, and so far, it certainly has.
Thanks to my new sewing machine, I have included a textiles section to show the progress I am making in that realm.
Lastly, regarding my primary art form, I have new shows for fall 2024. Those dates are listed below.
My windows are open. Have a look inside.
COLOR NOTEBOOK
I have wanted to draw a rooster for a long time. I used cooler and warmer color tones together.
This was some sort of plant doodle with waves of foliage and bold colors.
I made a portrait of my dear husband’s happy place. It changes his mood.
There is an alternate universe in which cats wear puffy sweaters and bowties. Yes.

TEXTILES
This is a napkin sewn out of fabric my mom gave me. The corners seem to be the rough spots at the moment.
This is my next project. It is going to be a bandana. I cut it from an old button-down shirt that always felt too itchy to wear. I love the pattern on it. (Notice the mitered corner. That will be a first for me.)
Thanks for taking a peek inside.
Enjoy the rest of your journey as you go along your own merry way.
