As many of you know, I recently switched from publishing weekly issues of WPR to a biweekly rhythm earlier this year. I have enjoyed having more space and time to address the multitude of demands in my life, but I have been thinking of another idea.
I am contemplating a return to a weekly output—but one that feels more sustainable and less taxing in my life. For every other issue, I would simply present a gallery of images accompanied by short descriptions. The photos would tell the bulk of the story.
What would these images be? I would share photos of new artwork and doodles and anything that speaks to the interiority of my life such as poetry, new song lyrics, or something I am actively nurturing or building.
Each of these biweekly galleries would be called Windows to the Inside, and this issue you are reading now offers a template of what this might look like.
At the end of this posting is a short poll that you are welcome to fill out. All responses will help me determine if I will proceed with this idea.
So now, let’s open some windows. Let the light shine in.
Go ahead. Have a peek inside . . .
I have been enamored of birds lately, and I am not entirely sure why.
A person looking out onto a lake, with a piano . . .
I have never been much into doodling, but something about sharp angles and geometric shapes is intriguing me at the moment.
My garden of abstract flowers continues to bloom.
A strange leaf.
As I have previously announced, on July 21, my band and I will be performing for a benefit concert in Nashville that will raise money for families in Gaza whose lives have been destroyed by Israel’s genocidal violence and bombing.
For this event, I wrote a new song that I will be debuting.
Imagine these words resting inside a lonesome and tender melody:
Lament

Bombs explode with my heart
Darkness falls as souls depart
Sons bury hopes for tomorrow
Daughters carry so much sorrow
A river flows to the sea in Palestine
Set them free
Send my love
To Palestine
I want to scream, shout, and cry
For all the birds that cannot fly
Fathers despair where children fall
Mothers stare at prison walls
A river flows to the sea in Palestine
Set them free
Send my love
To Palestine
Set them free
Set them free
Set them free
Set them free
Set them free
Send my love
To Palestine
A year ago this month, my Dear Husband and I passed by three lost kittens on the side of the road just down from our mailbox. I drove back afterward and scooped them all up.
I kept one and found homes for the other two.
Chopin is now just over a year old. He owns my heart, and I am grateful that I get to help him live a beautiful life.
I hope you enjoyed the view.

Last weekend, I attended a fundraiser for a children’s dance school that was bombed in Gaza by Israel. My mom and I went. I bought a couple of beautiful handmade bracelets. There were DJs playing lots of music, and folks were dancing away.
It was inspiring to me that people could publicly show their support and solidarity with Palestine. Hearts can feel heavy but still give love.
