Today, we delve into the rest of our outdoor camping adventure at the Land Between the Lakes in Southern Kentucky.

For this trip, we decided to stay at a campground with our own designated spot (#8) on the waterfront. It came equipped with picnic tables, electricity, water, and a fire pit/grill. A bathroom and showers (with warm water!) were just a short walk uphill.

We spent a lazy morning fishing. Putting a squirming worm on a hook made me a bit queasy, but I can see the appeal of waiting for a bite. Fishing is a calm, leisurely, and contemplative way to spend time outdoors. We did not catch any fish, but this shelled creature latched onto one of our hooks. It took considerable effort to detach it and set it free.

Later that day, we ventured out into the world to the nearby town of Paducah, KY, to visit the incredible National Quilt Museum. This is my second visit to this fine institution, and it did not disappoint. I was happy to lure my campmates into going. As expected, they geeked out over it all too.

I was lucky to be in the company of friends who love to cook and do it well. There was no shortage of delicious food cooked on a small gas-powered camp stove.
